Director & Cinematographer
Mani Mehrvarz is an independent filmmaker and multimedia artist, born in Iran in 1982. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in the Department of Media Study at University at Buffalo, New York, where he also teaches courses such as Documentary Filmmaking and Media History. Mani received his Master of Arts in Intermedia, from University of Arts in Poznan, Poland in 2014, where he focused his practice/research on the intersection of moving-image and nostalgia. His movies and video arts have been screened and exhibited worldwide since 2004, including in 17th Japan Media Art Festival, PERL media festival in Ireland, Short Waves Festival in Poland, Cologne International Videoart Festival, FIVA Video Art Festival and 12th Bienal de Artes Mediales in Chile, Kochi Muziris Biennial in INDIA and Isolated Film Festival in the US.
Maryam Muliaee is a media artist/scholar, and a Ph.D. candidate in Media Study at University at Buffalo, New York. She got her first Master in Fine Arts, Illustration from Tehran University in 2010, and after moving to Poland, achieved her second MA in 2014 in Intermedia from University of Arts in Poznan. Her early work ranges from drawing, painting, and illustration, which has been selected/awarded in national and international festivals including in 16th Noma Festival in Tokyo, National Visual Art Festival in Tehran, Magic of Persia in London, among others. Her current practice is multidisciplinary, including video/sound installations and locative media arts. Maryam’s work has been exhibited in galleries and juried exhibitions all over the world, including in Tehran, London, Brussels, Athens, Poland, Germany, Italy, Croatia, Ukraine, Japan, and the US since 2007.

Derek is a Senior at The University At Buffalo majoring in Media Study with a focus in production. His main focus is behind the camera hoping to become a camera operator for feature-length films and documentaries. He has a deep love for the city of Buffalo and wants to tell its story through the use of media.

Justin graduated from the University at Buffalo in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Study, with a focus in production and minor in Computer Science. His interest mainly lies in the creation of video, sound, and photography, but he is also interested in media theory that relates to our digital age of hyperreality. He is currently involved in several art projects around Niagara Falls and Buffalo, New York.

Mahan Mehrvarz is a Media artist and strategist whose works primarily addresses the entanglement of design, marketing, and digital media. He holds an M.Arch specializing in situated technologies from State University of New York (UB), where he received the AIA School Gold Medal by the American Institute of Architects and in 2016. Mahan’s Internet ‘in’ things project, an electronic art discussing the potentiality of cultural associations within the context of Iot technologies, has been recently exhibited and highly recognized in the European media art festival in Germany (EMAF2017).
