Dr. Mani Mehrvarz
Founder and Director
Dr. Mani Mehrvarz, an accomplished multimedia artist-producer, filmmaker, and educator, boasts over 20 years of experience and a rich academic and professional history. He earned a BA in Design and Communication, an MA in Intermedia and Video from Poznań University of Fine Arts, Poland, and a Ph.D. in Media Study from SUNY Buffalo, focusing on Film & Video.
With over seven years of teaching experience, Mani shared his expertise in documentary and media theory at the University at Buffalo and lectured in New York University's Integrated Digital Media program. He founded the Buffalo Documentary Project in 2016, highlighting the cultural diversity of Buffalo and Western New York through documentaries.
Since 2006, his contributions to media and art have gained international recognition, with exhibitions around the globe. Dr. Mehrvarz co-founded and edits The Journal of Media Art Study and Theory, offering a critical forum for media art and theory research.
In addition to his filmmaking career, he also serves as the Creative Director and Chief Technology Officer at the Community Action Organization of Western New York. He leverages his multimedia, technology, and storytelling skills to lead innovative initiatives, using new technologies to advance storytelling and benefit the community. Mani’s career exemplifies his commitment to blending media, technology, and community engagement, significantly impacting the cultural and educational sectors.
