The Silo Native
Unfinished | 2019
"The Silo Native" was initially envisioned to spotlight Jim Watkins, also known as Swannie Jim, a celebrated artist, poet, and aficionado of Silo City's vibrant arts scene. Silo City, renowned for its allure to artists and musicians from across the nation, was to serve as both the setting and subject of the film, exploring Jim's reflections on the community alongside his personal journey and experiences. The film production captured extensive interviews with Jim and breathtaking scenes of Silo City during Buffalo's severe winter, aiming to encapsulate the stark beauty of the locale and its impact on the creative minds it hosts. However, unforeseen post-production challenges, including legal issues regarding permissions and Jim's departure from Silo City, coupled with financial constraints, ultimately halted the completion of the project by BDP.
